Crusin' Day 1

Our first day out we stopped at Nassau in the Bahamas. The water is so blue here - very beautiful!

There were lots of tourists in town, because there were so many ships in port, all looking for treasures. We shopped around, but didn't really buy anything (I know - what's that all about!). I did like the Starbucks - it was really cool in there and it smelled great. Yes, I got an iced coffee.

 There are so many ships here that it's hard to count them.

I think it was six; there's a smaller one in there.

It was so soon in the trip that we didn't plan any shore excursion. I supposed we missed some good stuff, but it was just too soon to think of it all. We walked around the town and saw some of what  Hurricane Irene left in her wake. It was hot and very humid; especially to us from the West Coast.
Senior Frog's was closed for repairs and there was a sort of swap meet place that was wrecked.



I'm having a hard time downloading more pictures right now. (I still don't have the hang of it on this blogspot site.) I guess I'll just post more later.

It was a great trip and a good time was had by all!



Back from the Cruise

Back from the cruise (at about midnight last night) and am resting today. Hopefully I will get to the photos in the next couple of days. It was so beautiful and we all had a great time. Now to unpack and do laundry.

Quilt Cruise

In one week I set sail on this cruise. But I'm leaving early (Tuesday) to spend a little time with Julie, Keith and the girls. Skyler starts school on Monday so it will be fun to see her reaction to first grade close up.

Grace will be going with me. I met her years ago because she lived next door to my in-laws. After my mother-in-law passed it was my idea to give Grace her sewing machine. My husband only has one brother but Grace was like a daughter to her and since I have several nice machines already she was the perfect person to get Maude's well loved machine.
Last year Grace went to Quilt Camp in Cambria (California) with me to make one of Rob Appell's Endangered Species quilts and I think she's kinda hooked. Especially with the adventure! It's fun to be with a beginner. There are so many things that I just know and don't think about anymore.

On this cruise we're not only making a quilt and enjoying all a cruise has to offer, we're going to Nassau, St. Thomas and St. Maarten. I've never been to these places before and even though I'm going on another cruise with Ray in a few months, none of these places are stops on that cruise.


I know that I haven't posted pictures from our trip to New York and New England. It was a wonderful trip and I have lots of pictures. I've had a few issues with my computer, but I hope to get to them one of these days. It was a beautiful trip and I could go back again any time (well, except in the winter).

After my brother retired, my sister-in-law told me that they were so busy she didn't know how they ever had time to work. I didn't understand it at the time, but now that we are retired I get it!

Lovin' the retired life and glad our retirement plan was to travel!

Long Beach Harbor

Today we went out with our friends on their yacht into the Long Beach Harbor. The USS Abraham Lincoln is still there and we had a great view of the huge Navy ship. The clouds cleared, the sun came out and it was not too hot wither - beautiful. Jay & Helga were wonderful hosts and we had a great day visiting with them and some new friends too. I have no pictures to post because I didn't realize the camera needed batteries until we were out to sea.

I realize that I haven't been posting much here. I felt like I just needed to catch up from our trip, but I will just go forward and get the pictures up when I get to them.

Tomorrow I have a class to learn how to use the computerized program on my quilting machine. My fingers are crossed that I can finally get some of my tops quilted at home.

Catching Up

OK, so we got back from our New York/New England trip and soon after that headed out for a family reunion and then Washington state to visit friends. We're back from that now, but are busy catching up on things around the house. I will be getting pictures out of the camera soon and will do my best to get them posted up here soon. This year has been busy with travel and it isn't gonna stop soon.

Maine

We're in Maine now. We've had some problems getting internet where we've been staying so I'll  have to give you more info (& pictures) when we get home.
Had fun crossing New York and even spent the night in Pennsylavania and a little time in New Jersey. Stayed overnight in Yonkers and drove into New York City to spend the day. Then north thru Connecticut & Rhode Island to spend several days in Massachusetts. Had a great time there and left just before the storm.
We're gonna spend a few days in Maine before checking out New Hampshire and Vermont.

Niagara Falls

We flew into Buffalo yesterday and it was pouring. After we checked into our motel we took a nap and when we woke up the sun was out and we went to check out the US side of the falls and hiked around Goat Isalnd.

Today we slept in and then went to Canada to see the falls and other fun stuff. Then we came back to the New York side and went up to Lake Ontario and across the countryside. It ws a beautiful day and we had a great time.
